Research on thermal runaway characteristics of ternary lithium ion battery in low oxygen environment

Abstract: The thermal runaway characteristics of NCM811ternary soft-packed lithium ion battery in closed space with oxygen concentration of 21% and 10.64% were studied. The experimental results show that when the oxygen concentration is 21%, continuous flame and then mars is sprayed. When the oxygen concentration is down to 10.64% , continuous flame is not formed on mars. The fact that the mars ejected during the thermal runaway of the battery can burn briefly in a low-oxygen environment, but the mars cannot form a continuous flame indicates that the thermal runaway of NCM811ternary lithium ion battery is a process of releasing oxygen, but the oxygen released by the battery is not enough to sustain the continuous combustion of mars.
