Evacuation assessment of cabin occupants in luxury cruise

Abstract: In order to evaluate the evacuation safety of cruise cabin occupants, FDS is used to simulate the fire conditions of cabin layers while the fixed fire- fighting facilities fails. The Available Safe Egress Time is taken by the time when the monitoring indicators reach the critical value. Pathfinder is used to simulate the evacuation of occupants in the cabin layers, and the safety of occupant evacuation are evaluated.The improved measures of the corresponding dangerous conditions are given. The results show that in the two evacuation scenes, the occupants can be trapped in the stairwells due to the effect of smoke. Optimizing the evacuation route of occupants above the fire layer is necessary. Occupants can complete evacuation within the available safe egress time while the evacuation route is optimized.
