Abstract:

The full scale fire experiment of 35 kV outdoor transformer was carried out to explore the burning characteristics of substation fire.Four fires at the same time were considered by setting fires at different position of transformer. The flame spread and temperature change were analyzed to provide theoretical support for substation fire construction and emergency rescue. The research showed that the transformer fire has hidden, three-dimensional and multi-scale combustion characteristics. In the process of combustion of fire sources with different scales, there are multiple flame touching and merging behaviors. In the stage of full combustion, the upper flame of the transformer is unstable, such as flame shock and separation. it is mainly attached wall flame under the transformer and continuous and intermittent flame formed by diffusion combustion above the transformer. The temperature gradually decreases in the vertical direction, while the temperature in the middle is high and the temperature on both sides is low in the horizontal direction.
