Comparative study on the test methods for fire resistance performance of floating roofs in flammable liquid internal floating roof tanks

Abstract: The fire resistance performance of the floating roof in the flammable liquid storage tank has an important impact on the overall fire safety level of the tank. Based on the typical fire accident scenarios of the internal floating roof tank, two experimental methods for the fire resistance performance of the internal floating roof were established. The aluminum alloy internal floating roof product was selected for testing. The experimental method based on the full assembly structure was determined to be more capable of scientifically reflecting the fire resistance performance level of the internal floating roof under engineering application conditions, with significant practical guidance. It is suggested that this method be used as the standard test method for the fire resistance performance of the floating roof on flammable liquid storage tanks, providing a basis for the formulation and revision of relevant standards and codes.
